A Summertime bourbon peach cocktail to quench those dog days. Bourbon, peach, mint and ginger come together to create a flavor packed sipper; The Bourbon Peach Smash!
I really feel like gushing over this cocktail, y’all.
It’s that good.
But If I gushed over every recipe I share here, I think y’all’ll start leaving (can you believe that’s a word? I heard it in Texas – just sayin’). Thing is, everything I share here is food I love and it would be easy for me to gush every. single. time. So can I just make sure we have an understanding, between us, of food shared here… that I’m gushing behind the scenes?
Okay.
A few years ago when my Ma came up, all the way from Texas, she introduced me to Bourbon Peach Smash. One of our first orders of business was to make this drink and chocolate babka.
We did both.
At the same time.
I recommend not drinking Peach Smash while devouring babka (i.e. any sweet baked good) because there’s too much sweetness going on to appreciate one or the other. However, it’s perfectly okay to sip Peach Smash while in the midst of mixing dough, chopping chocolate, letting dough rise (make another Smash.. while you wait), rolling out dough, filling it, letting it rise again, and baking babka.
It’s an all day event!
Ever since then, this is the Summer cocktail. Refreshing, sweet, cold, gingery, minty and oh so peachy.

Ingredients for Bourbon Peach Smash
This Peach Bourbon Cocktail comes together in 10 minutes and requires only a few ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Simple Syrup
- Fresh Peaches
- Mint
- Bourbon
- Ice
- Ginger Ale
- Crushed Ice
If you’re serving a crowd, the recipe can be easily scaled to make a pitcher, then served as a punch or poured over ice. Just make sure everyone gets some juicy bits of peach.
How to Make this Bourbon Peach Cocktail
Make the simple syrup days in advance so it’s nice and chill when ready to make this smash up! No fancy glasses needed, share in high ball glasses or 16oz Mason jars. Here’s how to make it:
- First, make the simple syrup by adding equal parts sugar and water to a sauce pan (add mint to for more minty freshness!). Bring to a boil to dissolve the sugar. Remove from heat and cool in the refrigerator.
- Next, in a high ball glass, add the peaches, mint and simple syrup. Muddle the ingredients 5-6 times. Add the bourbon, then fill the glass with crushed ice.
- Last, top off with cold ginger ale and stir well pulling the peach/syrup mixture to the top.
These would make fabulous poptails.
And the babka. That’ll be happening again when my mom arrives along with this peach smash.

Ok while a cool summer drink is fine anytime of the year, could this be adapted to a warmed winter drink? I’m thinking sweaters and blankets shared around a firepit outside a cool fall eveming.
I wouldn’t want to give up peaches and Bourbon just because the air cools a bit!
Barbara Ann
Traci
I wonder if it could be adapted to a warm drink… hummm. If you try it, let us know how it turns out! I love the visualization, Barbara Ann! Around the fire pit with a warm cup in hand.. awwwh, the sounds of Fall. :D

You must be tired of hearing this by now..but Traci..that last pic!! Seriously, its past 1:30 am in India and all i want is to get peach smashed!! DOn’t know what a babka is..but if it has chocolate and since you love it, Im in!! Making this soon.. Although do u think this could work with pineapples too??
Traci
Awh, thank you Swayam! Oooh, babka is this rich dough, like brioche, rolled out like cinnamon rolls with chocolate spread over it. It’s then rolled up, twisted and baked. It is out of this world!
I think pineapples would be delicious! What a fabulous idea! :D
Anne
This looks absolutely amazing!!! Being a teenager comes with obvious problems with trying this recipe so I’ll just admire your photos -which are absolutely gorgeous btw… :DDD
Traci
No doubt, Anne. Try black tea instead of bourbon. You can make a peach tea smash! It would be delicious! :D
Alyssa @ My Sequined Life

Sarah | Broma Bakery
Is there anything better than bourbon + peaches? I honestly don’t know. Ugh I’m drooling just reading over the ingredients. You’re my Bourbon Queen!

Heather - Butter & Burlap
What a beautiful drink, and perfect for these hot summer days! I could definitely get smashed off these peach smash. So yummy!
Traci
Oh the peaches! Yessss!! :D
Beeta @ Mon Petit Four
Traci, don’t worry, the understanding that your blog is place for growling stomachs and drooling is cemented in. While you may be gushing behind the camera, I’m gushing behind my screen! I mean, just look at those peaches – gorgeous! And the flavor combo with the ginger and mint…gahhhh <3 This is the cocktail I want to order at a restaurant but can never seem to find. Let's get together and sip on these as we cry/laugh over how these summer mosquitos can't seem to stay away from us. <3
Traci
LOL – lets gush together. Okay? Over your pastries, of late those incredible palmiers, and we’ll drink to delicious food and forget about the darn mosquitoes! :D
Kelly @ Inspired Edibles
that’s a lot of y’alls for sure but I think my favorite line is ‘by the time the babka’s done you’re smashed’ it all came together for me at that point :D. Curious whether the babka comes from your mom’s background or is it something you started making… I hope to hear all about it in one of your upcoming posts. This drink sounds divine and I love the chunky pieces of peach. Do you end up drinking it with a spoon or just allow the pieces to shimmy on down the glass at the end? :) Isn’t mint the best refresher? Just love it in summer cocktails. Beautiful Traci.
Traci
Babka is quite a process, so it’s always advantages to have a little drinky standing by between the waaiting! And the babka will be making an appearance at some point. With my Ma, it’ll be that or we’ve talked about hand pies… Oh the peaches, good point, Kelly. Indeed have a spoon standing by to scoop out all those soaked peaches.. It’s soo good! Thank you my dear! :D
Julia | Orchard Street Kitchen
You had me chuckling while reading this, Traci! Is your baking secret that you’re always a bit smashed? ;) In all seriousness, this looks like an absolutely wonderful cocktail. With this and your mojito, I think you’d be able to throw a pretty stellar party! I’m going to have to make this for my husband soon – he’s a big bourbon fan!
Traci
Hehe! The secret to a good babka, indeed! I hope you two enjoy it Julia! :D
